Don't get it

I have to add a disclaimer - I have only been to this establishment once, and i only ordered 1 appetizer and 1 meal... but based one this I would not go back to try more
I read a review declaring people would need a reservation. Maybe you needed one in this restaurants hey-day which is obviously not now. I went to pick up my food at 6 on a Saturday night and place was deader than dead. The staff did not act or seem to even be expecting anyone anytime soon.
I SHOULD have read all the reviews for this place before ordering. I went here based on a person I know's recomendation, that person is now definitely someone who has never had a decent meal.
I ordered the Spring Rolls, because hey I love Spring Rolls and I just worked out. I was thinking something light might be nice. On the menu it lists tofu as being in the rolls. My rolls contained shredded cabbage, carrots, red cabbage and I think little parts of a pickle. The shredded ingredients are typical of a grocery store bag of mix cole slaw ingredients. Definitely contained no tofu. Disappointing. But they were both huge.
For my meal I ordered Pad thai (had I read the review that stated don't order Pad thai, I wouldnt have). The pad thai was a huge portion that could feed two average to hungry average people. Again on the menu it lists crushed peanuts, common among pad thais, my order did not contain this. My pad thai was similar, if not exactly, to that Kraft brand "asian food" bowls you can buy at a grocery store. Small bit of pad thai flavor, it just wasn't a good or true flavor. But the pad thai did contain quite a bit of chicken and egg. Both were in big huge chunks.
As for the reviews stating Thai Sticks offers authentic thai food, the people that wrote that must think Taco Bell hits the heart and spirit of Mexico.
Basically what I am learning is the average person has no taste buds or any idea of anything other than meat & potatoes americana.
Pros: Patio, interior
Cons: food

A very romantic and stylish place located in a hip area in town- Montrose. Has a beautiful patio for people who like to eat outside. The food is amazing. The Thai Tiger martinis are to die for, and the service is great. The place has a beautiful bar as well. It's ideal for dates, because it is not very loud.
You have to park on side streets, so for people who like walking going there will give them the opportunity to take a short walk.

After coming here for years, standards seem to be slipping, food was not up to expectations, chicken was tough, too much salty soy sauce
Pros: Ambience
Cons: Food not up to expectations

Everything about Thai Sticks is wonderful. I've been fortunate to have "real" Thai food my whole life cooked by my Thai friend from her family recipes. TS is the only place that even compares! The lunch specials are fantastic and filling for the price. All the curries are wonderful, as are the noodle dishes (with the exception of Pad Thai-get it elsewhere), and Cashew Chicken. My husband and I like it so much we go weekly.
If you are a Thai fan, you have to try TS!
Good value, poor value

We ate at Thai Sticks on April 11, 2009 for dinner. The restaurant was rather empty with only 3-4 tables occupied at 6:30 pm. We dined until after 7 pm which would normally be a "rush" time, but the place was still rather empty. The food was great, the service good, but the portions were quite small for the price. We opted to get the Panaeng Curry with Tofu instead of meat. There were only a few pieces of tofu and the portion did not even fill half of the serving platter. The rice was a very small bowl not filled to the top. I have eaten Thai food in many of Houston's restaurants and in comparison, the value is very low. Perhaps this is one reason the restaurant had very few patrons! Just for reference, we had a small appetizer, two non-alcoholic drinks and our vegetarian entree and the bill was over $30.00 without tip.
Pros: Excellent Curry
Cons: Small Portion, overpriced
