Chavez High School Reviews

My daughter teaches art there, and loves it. It's a friendly school that serves a largely Hispanic neighborhood and treats everyone with respect.

I would like to voice that Chavez is under staff. I have been a parent that is very much involved with my daughters education. That school has many issues.

I am a student and I can say that Chavez isn't the school that I thought it was going to be. The dress code in my opinion is stupid and you get into trouble as quick as wearing capris to school. Although some of these things may be for safety purposes others are just down right dumb.

This school has been in existence for 5 or 6 years and has already had 4 principals. It has the potential to be a great school, but there is no consistency from year to year.

I am a student at chavez high and I would have to say that I do enjoy the learing experence that I have so far recived at chavez high. this school is one of the places I can call home. I like the academic programs given to us and the different programs provided for us. as for the parent involvment I think that there can be more help on that. availability of the extracurricular activities in no limited to basic activities the fun we have learning different skills is wonderful to have.

I know that most teachers at Chavez work their butts off. The technology is amaging. Kids have access to everything. I would love more parents to be involved. The libary is one of the best selections I have seen. The staff is helpful. Of course, it is far from perfect.

The regular program needs improvement but the magnet program is fairly good. My sons SAT scores and his grades compare to bellaire and debakeys average. If the entire school was like the magent program then chavez would be in the top schools in the city.
